As a provider of application software to the healthcare industry, iSOFT is acutely aware of its responsibility to promote equality in the delivery of information services. This website has been developed to ensure that the information provided is freely available to all interested parties.
Every attempt has been made to comply with UK Government guidelines regarding website accessibility, as required by the Disability Discrimination Act, 1995. We believe this website conforms to Level A of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 1.0, so all Priority 1 checkpoints as defined in the guidelines are met.
To summarise:
We have attempted to achieve good colour contrast between copy and page backgrounds, and colour is not relied on to convey information or navigational options (e.g. "click on red to").
We have used a clear layout and structural markup for elements including headings, paragraphs and lists. Our web pages can also be read when style sheets are turned off.
We have included descriptive alternative text for all instances of images.
We have provided a descriptive soundtrack and transcript for all Flash demos included in this website, as well as a text alternative for other instances of Flash in the site.
This site is web standards compliant. We have used eXtensible HyperText Markup Language (XHTML) 1.0 Transitional and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) Level 2 that conform to the specifications as laid out by the W3C.
We have deliberately chosen not to use access keys on this site. We feel that keyboard shortcut keys place an unnecessary burden on the memory of the user and that they ultimately replicate functionality already possessed by screen reader technologies. We are aware that Checkpoint 9.5 of the WCAG v1.0 relates to the use of access keys, but in light of the reasons outlined above we have chosen to look towards the upcoming WCAG v2.0, where the implementation of access keys is not a featured checkpoint.
